This previous week we got assigned a second powerpoint to finish which consisted of the breakdown of our film. Such things as what each character is like, a back story as to why they have that personality and if this is what effects the film. Talking again about our target audience/market in to more detail. The powerpoint had slides such as locations, props, cast and crew requirements and what technology we will need to film and edit. Everything had to be covered in as much detail as possible so we could be ready to write our script up for our pitch which has to be presented on Monday. There was another slide within this powerpoint named rip-o-matic which meant we had to create out own, around 30 second video by only using existing footage and photographs to create a very short trailer to show what our film is about. This was quite difficult especially as we couldn't use just one full trailer and I tried to get as much different footage as I could from both short films made by students to films such as The Roommate. This Rip-o-matic has to be included in out pitch thus having to also being complete this week.

Over these past two weeks I have created a power point which consists of mind maps, a synopsis of what my film is, primary and secondary research of films that relate to my short film that I wish to make.
The first thing I created was the mind map. This was to come up with ideas for the film I am wanting to make. I went through eight different genres, spoke about the conventions of these, the characters that are involved and the age rating e.g. a horror would be for either 15+ or 18+ depending on the content.
After I did this I then though of what genre film I want to create and then wrote a list of ideas. Finally settling on one idea, I wrote this on my powerpoint and then moved on to the primary research to find out who my audience are and hat they would want including in the film.
Within my primary research I created a survey through the website 'Survey monkey'. I included 10 questions that associate with the thriller genre. This was then sent out to the rest of the class for then to fill out thus I could analyse the results. A few of the questions were just general such as 'What is your gender?' and 'How old are you?' then there were more relatable questions to the genre such as 'Within a thriller what would you prefer?' I then listed different types of villains so I knew which my audience would best prefer.
In my opinion it would have been much better if the survey was sent out through a social media website such as Facebook as the results I got were very limited as the people who answered these are at the same age group as myself. I would like my audience to be very wide from the ages of 13 and up. I say 13 as I included in my research that a thriller genre has too many disturbing images for a child to view.
I analysed every question and result I received through Survey monkey and even though they are very similar to what I expected, they helped me in the way that I can change my film for the better as my audience will now know that I have and will take their answers in to consideration to improve my plot.
The secondary research included of a film named 'Contagion'. I chose this film to analyse through reviews, gender, age etc as it relates to my film perfectly. I was looking for a post apocalyptic film that didn't include any disease that turned the human race to a monster but just killed them instead and this is the plot of Contagion. I analysed this through taking screenshots from the internet of websites such as IMDb, Rotten tomatoes and Metacritic. I then wrote a paragraph on what the reviews mean, who wrote the reviews and how good and bad it is.
